Why Duluth Homeowners Plan for Winter Outages

The winter of 2022-23 gave Duluth 140.1 inches of snow, the most on record (Minnesota DNR). Even homes that heat with gas, about 72% in Duluth (ACS 2024 5-year), need electricity for the furnace blower, the sump pump and the refrigerator. A properly sized standby generator keeps them running until the power is back.
